Key advisor on all personnel matters for both Active and Reserve recruiters. 

Proponent for numerous personnel directives regarding recruiting, recruiter support, and  soldier and family support.  Managed an operating budget in excess of $6 million.  Led a directorate staff of over 75 personnel in support of  5 brigades, 42 battalions, and the Armys Recruiting and Retention School.

Aug 1991 Apr 1994: Assistant Chief of Staff, Sixth US Army, Presidio of San Francisco, CA

Provided oversight to the headquarters staff responsible for training the more than 200,000 National Guard and US Army Reserve soldiers in the 12 western states. Supervised the staff action control process and the protocol and internal budget functions.  Arranged numerous conferences and social events for this active three-star general headquarters.

May 1989 Aug 1991:  Chief of Staff, 8th Personnel Command, Yongsan, Korea.         

Supervised the directorate staff of an 800 person major command which provided the full range of personnel service support to the more than 35,000 US soldiers and family members assigned to Korea.  Personally conducted professional development training to junior officers and supervised the company which trained Korean soldiers to serve with US units.

Jun 1987  May 1989:  Division G-1/Adjutant General, 7th Infantry Division (Light), Ft. Ord, CA.

Led the divisional personnel staff in providing support to the more that 15,000 soldiers assigned to Ft. Ord.

Conducted numerous field training and deployment exercises to maintain the readiness of this rapid deployment combat division.  Participated in international field exercises, formal ceremonies and social events involving units of the Australian, British, and Canadian Armies.

Sep 1984  Jun 1987:  Chief, Deletion and Stabilization Branch, US Army Military Personnel Center, Alexandria, VA.  Managed a major component of the Army's Enlisted Personnel Management System.  Authored Army policies and procedures on deletions, deferments, and stabilization. Assisted field commanders.

Aug 1981- Sep 1984:  Deputy Adjutant General, 4th Infantry Division (Mechanized), Ft. Carson, CO

Supervised a 230 person staff in providing a full range of personnel support, to include personnel assignments and reassignments, personnel records maintenance, personnel accounting, personnel actions processing, postal operations, and retirement services to over 19,000 Division and Installation soldiers and their families.

Jul 1980- Aug 1981:  Aide de Camp to the Commanding General, Combined Field Army (Republic of Korea/US). 

Served as executive assistant and advisor to the senior American three-star general commanding all US and Korean ground troops.  Supervised a personal staff of junior aides, helicopter pilots, protocol assistants, secretaries, and drivers. 

Personally managed the commander's calendar and coordinated issues, activities, ceremonies and events of all types. 

Became knowledgeable of Korean customs, traditions, uniforms and equipment.

Sep 1977-Jul 1980:  Executive Officer and Assistant Secretary of the General Staff, Headquarters, Fifth US Army, Ft. Sam Houston, TX.

Coordinated key fiscal actions and helped ensure budget issues were efficiently managed.  Supervised the staff action control process, and helped coordinate the various activities of the staff.  Arranged social functions for US and foreign dignitaries.

Jul 1976- Sep 1977:  Executive Officer, General Officer Management Office, Office, Chief of Staff, Headquarters, Department of the Army, Pentagon.    

Supervised an executive staff which managed the careers of the Army's General Officers.  Provided a wide array of advice and counsel to general officers.  Assisted them in procuring appropriate uniforms and accouterments.

Dec 1973- Jul 1976:  Administrative Executive Officer, Office, Deputy Chief of  Staff for Operations and Plans, Headquarters, Department of the Army, Pentagon.  Supervised the personnel management and administrative operations of this major staff agency, supporting nearly 600 senior staff officers.  Became expert in the procedures and practices of working within the Pentagon.

Nov 1972  Mar 1973:  Commander, 516th Personnel Service Company, Danang, Vietnam

Led a 170 man personnel service company in providing personal support to the soldiers and Military Region 1.

Coordinated closely with local commanders and with the Army of Vietnam (ARVN) headquarters staff for the turnover of all unit facilities and equipment at the end of the war.  Became knowledgeable of US and Vietnamese uniforms and equipment.

Feb 1972 - Nov 1972:  Staff Officer, Headquarters, US Army Vietnam, Saigon

As Chief Casualty Branch, reported over 200 casualties to Department of the Army each month.  Maintained active Prisoner of War and Missing In Action files and responded to next of kin queries.  As Chief, Actions Branch, managed the Awards and Decorations Program and processed personnel requests of various types.

Nov 1968 - Jul 1970:  Commander, 198th Personnel Service Company, Boeblingen, Germany

Led a 200 man personnel service company providing personnel support to units throughout southern Germany.  As an

additional duty, also commanded the 82nd Army Band and the VII Corps Support Command Honor Guard. 

Participated in numerous parades and ceremonies.

Sep 1964 - Sep 1968:   Member, then Commander, Company D-6, Pershing Rifles Drill Team, Louisiana State University, Baton Rouge, Louisiana

Became an expert in Drill and Ceremonies and then led the university's drill team to numerous victories in marching and rifle drill competitions around the country.  Personally won several Individual Fancyâ rifle and bayonet drill awards at national competitions.
